It Isn't Easy Being Green!
We've all heard the term "green" by now. It
represents the concept of being environmentally conscious and doing your
part to eliminate your impact on the Earth.
We at Sundance, have been green for years, as the six-time winner of the California Bus Association's, Clean Air Award. We have strived to be ahead of the trend, from recycling our batteries, oil, and scrap metal, to purchasing our own refrigerant recycler and smoke test meter.
Pending legislation, by the California Air Resources Board, will dramatically change the way all companies in California operate heavy duty diesel vehicles. Sundance is undertaking a pro-active program to meet, and in some ways exceed, the pending new rules.
Beginning this year, Sundance will re-power and replace older technology two cycle engines with much cleaner running four cycle engines. These engines will be able to accommodate new clean air devices that will eliminate most of the Particulate Matter (PM) from the exhaust - the visible black smoke from the tail pipe.
Also, Sundance is undergoing a fleet modernization program that will bring to the fleet, new coaches in 2008, 2009, and 2010. These new coaches will carry us into a greener future, ready to meet the pending and future regulations.
